Lutheran Memory Work

If there were one thing I could change on LutheranHomeschool.com right now, it would be to better present our free resources, especially those that are just linked. Thankfully, one of those links just turned into another freebie product: Lutheran Memory Work for Lutheran Schools and Homes (New King James Translation). 🙂 It contains suggested memory work material for grades first through eighth!

The other thing I’d like to change is get more materials up in the marketplace! I know that takes time. But, if you happen to want a little project, I’d love to put up some scope and sequence information for Lutheran children’s books. And, remember, if you’re tweaking curriculum to better suit your Lutheran needs, we’re happy to take your recommendations and pass them along to folks who may be essentially following in your footsteps.

Blessings on your holiday seasons & homeschooling!

Arch Book Reading Plan: Lectionary Year A

LutheranHomeschool.com’s latest product is an Arch Book Reading Plan that corresponds with Lectionary Year A! For only $2.50, you can download a list of doctrinally-approved, Lutheran titles for every Sunday of the church year, which also includes options for reading 1 or 2 books per month to match the readings of Year A of the Three Year Lectionary series with variations for the LCMS and WELS.

Sounds great to me! And a warm welcome to our newest vendor, Cloud Moon, who created this product for us, her family, and friends!

Two New Products Today

LutheranHomeschool.com is proud to offer two new products today.

The first is a freebie sent in by a generous homeschooling Lutheran mom, Katie Fischer: Words of Institution Memory Motions. Nice! Download free PDF instructions with pictures and descriptions to accompany a Youtube video.

The second is an Early Elementary Grammar PDF to guide you through four years of introducing grammar in elementary years. It’s $4 for 4 years, which sounds like a pretty good deal to me. 🙂

We have some other projects in the works. The next resource page we’d like to work on is one for memory tips, so please do let us know any advice or techniques you’ve grown to love.

Thanks for your support! And thank you for taking the time and making the effort to invest in your children and their education! We give thanks to God for you and your families!

Supplemental Religious Material for Latin!

Photo by George Sharvashidze from Pexels

We have two new products up that are actually the same: Supplemental Religious Material for Latin. What do I mean? One is a less expensive family version with a slightly more expensive co-op or classroom version. Make sense?

From here on out, co-op / classroom versions will come with 365 days of access to the link. Family versions will have ongoing access. Plus, I think with both of these options, the vendor can update the product, you gain access to the new product and can download it again, within the time allotted.

Yay for learning more about how to do this stuff!

Today’s new products, Supplemental Religious Material for Latin – Co-op or Classroom Use and Supplemental Religious Material for Latin – Family Use, are perfect for any Lutheran family introducing, or pursuing, Latin study! There’s basic (non-grammar) memory work, phrases, advice, etc.

Odds are, if you are even mildly curious about Lutheran texts in Latin, you’ll want this as a great starting place and resource for your whole family or school!

There are good Latin curriculum choices out there. At the same time, they don’t necessarily include Latin from specifically Lutheran traditions and sources. Hence, I’ve started to compile a) places to start so that Latin-learners can broach translation work with some familiar Lutheran texts, b) supplemental religious memory work to introduce familiar Lutheran phrases and texts to our Latin students, and c) a little advice along the way.

This document does not include grammar charts or explanations. It doesn’t even necessarily translate. It is, however, still very user friendly, even to those without much experience in Latin, and it does feature the following:

  1. Suggested Resources
  2. Supplemental Religious Memory Work
  3. A Little Word Vocabulary Help
  4. Latin text of the Creeds
  5. Three of the most common Latin hymn texts
  6. “A Mighty Fortress” translated into Latin
  7. The O Antiphons in Latin

Two new free resources

Ladies and gentlemen, we recently added two new free resources: an Athanasian Creed Memorization Guide (only 15-20 weeks!) and 35 Suggested Lutheran Hymns.

Both of these are basically mark-as-you-go resources. There’s a title or indication of section with a place to mark, but not the full text. Check them out to see what i mean.

I hope these can be helpful. 🙂 If you look them over and see room for improvement, let me know and we’ll try to improve them!

Yours in Christ,

Parenting Pages

I thought I’d let you know that, in better organizing some of the Lutheran Homeschool resource pages, I created/ subdivided so that there are now three new ones:

  1. Lutheran Parenting Books & More
  2. A Parenting page that isn’t Lutheran-specific
  3. A separate Non-Lutheran Curriculum or Schooling Options page

I would warmly welcome suggestions, especially for the two parenting pages. It could be very helpful to have encouragement and perspective at our fingertips!

Thanks!

You can also reply with suggestions on materials you’d like to see us develop.

God’s blessings!
